COMMONLY ASKED Questions (FAQs)

Quick Questions. Straight Answers.

Why is it important to have a 3-Part Product Master Section?

Answer: A 3-Part Product Master Section isn’t just a formatting preference, it’s the industry-standard communication tool that drives coordinated, performance-based results on real projects. Each part serves a purpose: Part 1 – General sets the ground rules: Summary, submittals, quality assurance, mock-ups, and warranties. Without it, there’s no context or control. Part 2 – Products outlines what’s being specified: Basis-of-Design manufacturers, materials, and performance criteria. If this is vague or missing, you’re gambling on the design intent. Part 3 – Execution defines how the work gets done: Examination, installation methods, field quality control, cleaning, and protection. Without this? You’ve left execution up to interpretation and basically said: ‘Figure it out yourself.” The 3-Part structure is how Owners, Architects, Engineers, and Contractors speak the same language. When a Product Master Section is just a brochure in disguise, it opens the door to missed scope, inconsistent pricing, and failed coordination. A complete, user-friendly 3-Part Product Master Section doesn’t just describe a product, it also supports procurement, bidding, and construction with accuracy, authority, and accountability.

What is the VERIFIED™ Seal and why is the date important?

Answer: The VERIFIED Seal is a commitment to quality, accuracy, and coordination. At V SPECS, we use the VERIFIED Seal to mark Product Master Sections that have been: - Reviewed by a Registered Specification Writer (RSW) - Scored and assessed using our patented scoring methodology (Exceeding, Meeting, Nearing, or Below Industry Standard) - 3rd-Party Verified, signifying contents within the Section appear complete, and ready for Tender, once all edits and selections have been made, and SPEC NOTES have been removed. It tells architects, consultants, and reps “This Section has been vetted, meets or exceeds industry standard practices, and is Sealed for end-user protection.” Why the Date Matters: The date next to the seal isn’t decorative. It’s a timestamp of accountability. Specs age fast as products change, accessories are added, and standards evolve. Therefore, when a firm sees a VERIFIED Section dated June 2025, they know exactly how current the content is. It eliminates guesswork and eliminates the desire for Copy & Pasting old Section content into new project Specifications. At V SPECS, we teach the industry that coordination isn’t optional, it’s contractual. The VERIFIED Seal and its date make that visible, traceable, and enforceable.

How long does a Section review take once submitted into The VERIFIER™?

Answer: Once a section is submitted into The VERIFIER, our turnaround is typically 24–48 hours. That’s not just a promise, that’s our dedicated process. Every section that enters The VERIFIER gets reviewed by a Specification Writer, dedicated to understanding specification structure, intent, and coordination of quality, 3-Part Product Master Sections. Within that 24–48 hour window, you can expect: - A formal score (Exceeding, Meeting, Nearing, or Below), complete with a review comment for each of the 35 points reviewed, - A written summary of recommended updates, if a formal score of “Nearing” or “Below” is achieved on the Section review, or - A VERIFIED Seal if the Section receives if a formal score of “Exceeding” or “Meeting” Industry Standard Practice. It’s fast, but never rushed, because quality isn’t something we compromise on.

Can a manufacturer have more than one MP4 Review completed?

Answer: Yes — absolutely. A manufacturer can have as many MP4 Reviews as they want. The only requirement? Each Section must carry a VERIFIED Seal. That’s it. Once the section has gone through The VERIFIER, scored appropriately, and meets or exceeds industry standards for clarity, formatting, and coordination, V SPECS is ready to go to camera. Our VERIFIED MP4 Reviews aren’t just casual overviews. They’re professional-grade video summaries built to: - Train outside sales teams about the importance of their Section, - Educate the Design Community on Why This Section is the Right Section for their Project, - And highlight critical quality control measures, key performance characteristics, and coordination points within the spec itself. Therefore, if a manufacturer has 3 VERIFIED Sections? They can request 3 separate MP4 Reviews, allowing each one to become a tool they can reference on the road, and within the office, to reinforce Section quality and positioning.

What is the benefit of Annual Maintenance to our Clients?

Answer: Annual Maintenance isn’t just a service, it’s peace of mind. For our clients, it means your Product Master Section is never out of sync with industry standards. With Annual Maintenance, you’re no longer guessing: - “Is this Section still relevant?” - “Did anything change in Part 2 Products that hasn’t been updated in this Section?” - “Are we still obtaining the latest sustainable design standard requirements to meet increasing energy targets?” V SPECS handles this and much more each year, to reassess each Section, re-VERIFY using our patented scoring methodology, and update where required along with issuing a new VERIFIED Seal with the current date. Why does that matter? Because the VERIFIED Seal has become a trusted marker within the design community. A signal that the section has been reviewed by a qualified Specification Writer. When the Design Community sees a VERIFIED Seal, they know the Section has been vetted, it’s coordinated, and safe to use on their projects.” Annual Maintenance ensures the Section isn’t just technically sound — it’s professionally respected. That gives Specifiers the confidence to use it, and Technical Representatives the confidence to lead with it. The VERIFIED Seal is how you build trust in a crowded industry.
